Organizing a small, older home with a large family for very little money and the challenge of slanted indoor walls. Basic organization but being creative at the same time. We are a family of 6 with eclectic tastes. Living in an A Frame home creates a challenge that we enjoy daily as we try to create storage for our growing family. Our latest addiction is to pinterest. We have found great inspiration there as well as other blogs.

Projects Projects the story of my life....
So my family and I live in a 1008 sq ft A Frame house... if you do not know what an A Frame house is.. here's a pic courtesy of Google.
Needless to say this is not my house, but you get the idea. The interior has very few flat walls. You live in a triangle just like it looks. It is very cool looking, but leaves very few spaces for storage, shelving etc.
So I have become the queen of making things work. We love our house, there are great schools in our area. We have 4 boys who go all dramatic at the mention of moving. So we make do... Our first big project was to make built in Bunk beds for the boys. Our two oldest are 15 and 12. The 2 youngest are 8 and 1 yr. So we made different size bunks.
Pictures of the beds, These are not full view pics yet, these are just a few pics we took of what we have gotten done so far, they still need to be painted.
The first pic is the older boys beds. The second for Thomas my 8yr old. The 1 yr old still sleeps in his crib of course.
Next we had to do something about the dresser. Not enough storage for 3 boys and it took up way to much space. So here I got creative again. The bins in the following pic I got from Dollar Tree. I am in the process of making some fabric storage bins for the older boys to use as well.
The very bottom shelf is a shoe rack. It was rather easy to buld, a triangle piece of wood on each end and a support piece in the middle and voila. I left enough space under for flip flops and bedroom shoes.
At the end of each bed is shelves for various things. Each boy wanted somewhere to put their things so they could look at their collections and be able to store them as well. SO during my trip to Dollar Tree I picked up a few other storage type containers. Yep and other pic is coming....
So now they have those done, they wanted shelves for their books, while in bed... so yep another shelf. This idea I got off of Google. (Google, Pinterest and any other good craft DIY blog, webpage are gold... literally your best friend!!)
Pallet shelves: And another pic...
Last but not least A wooden rolling cart under the bed for games etc. My husband found this for me and I just added wheels that came with a plastic drawer set I already had. So it cost me zilch. I love zilch...
So that is what we have done so far. Next is to get everything painted and pics of the finished room.
TTFN Ta Ta For Now!!
